Paper Slitting and Rewinding Machine: Maintenance Precautions and Causes of Operational Abnormalities

Although the paper slitting and rewinding machine is small, it must be maintained and kept by a designated person. The operator must be familiar with the structure and performance of the machine. It is strictly forbidden to overload the use of the round rewinding machine. Do not cut quenched steel, hard steel, high-speed steel, alloy steel, castings, and non-metallic materials.

Paper Slitting and Rewinding Machine Operation and Maintenance Precautions

  • The cutting edge of the paper slitting and rewinding machine should be kept sharp. If the edge is dull or damaged, it should be promptly sharpened or replaced. When operated by multiple people, a designated person should direct and coordinate the operation. It is forbidden to cut two different specifications of materials simultaneously on the rewinding machine, and overlapping cuts are not allowed;

  • The cut workpieces must be placed stably, should not be piled too high, and must not be placed in the passage. Scrap and waste materials should be promptly cleaned to keep the area tidy.

What Are The Causes Of Abnormal Operation In Paper Slitting And Rewinding Machine?

  • Common abnormality one: The tubes are properly positioned in the front track, but the trolley does not push the tube to the corresponding position in the rear track, causing the tubes to accumulate in the front, and the automatic tube loading stops. Abnormal cause: Unknown (no abnormality detected in instrument control). Solution: Manually load the tubes for this batch, change the knife online, adjust the slitting sequence, or adjust the width by ±1-2mm (usually the latter is chosen for convenience). Then reset and the subsequent batch should load automatically. Usually, one online knife change is enough; the maximum tried was three changes in one shift, and the last shift operated normally, suspecting a possible program issue.

  • Common abnormality two: The knife adjustment is correct, the tube is in the ready position, the sensor detects the tube, but the automatic tube loading does not start. Solution: Reset, manually load the tubes for this batch, change the knife online. When manually loading tubes, check if the limit near the trolley position is obstructed by paper. After checking and confirming everything is okay, start the machine, accelerate, and then reset to automatic mode. It should work fine.

  • The operator loaded the tubes too quickly without noticing the tubes already in the track. Resetting and clearing the data caused the trolley motor protection alarm. No need to panic. After unloading the paper, remove all tubes from the track and manually reset the trolley to its initial position via the inner touchscreen to resolve the abnormality.

How to Maintain and Service the Paper Slitting and Rewinding Machine?

The paper slitting and rewinding machine must be operated by a designated person who is proficient in operating the machine, bag-making procedures, simple instrument debugging, parameter changes, etc. Mechanical instrument debugging personnel must undergo strict training by the manufacturer, be proficient in the instrument’s performance, work procedures, operation modes, work status, troubleshooting, and handling. Unauthorized personnel are strictly forbidden from operating the computer instruments. Daily maintenance of the rewinding machine must ensure that the computer instrument box is kept clean and dry inside and outside; periodically check for loose or fallen terminals to ensure smooth circuits and gas paths. As trusted paper slitting and rewinding machine manufacturers emphasize, strict operation protocols and regular maintenance are essential to ensure stable performance and long service life.

  • Regularly check the screws of all parts of the packaging machine to avoid loosening;

  • Pay attention to the waterproof, moisture-proof, anti-corrosion, and anti-rat aspects of the electrical parts of the machine. Keep the electrical control box and terminals clean to prevent electrical faults;

  • When the machine is stopped, ensure that the two heat sealing rollers are in the open position to prevent damaging the packaging material;

  • Regularly lubricate the gear meshing points, bearing oil holes, and moving parts of the machine. When adding lubricating oil, be careful not to let the oil drip onto the drive belt to avoid slippage or belt aging and damage;

  • For a newly installed paper slitting and rewinding machine, check and tighten the transmission and moving parts within one week of use and lubricate it. Thereafter, regular monthly inspections and maintenance are required.
